About LAIT911: At LAIT911, we are dedicated to fostering resilience and ensuring the safety of communities throughout Los Angeles. As a leading non-profit organization in disaster prevention and emergency response, we are committed to offering immediate medical support at large events across the city, ensuring the health and safety of all attendees.

Role Summary: We are seeking compassionate and proactive Volunteer Medical Standby Representatives to join our team. In this vital role, you will provide essential medical care and first aid at various large-scale events across Los Angeles. This role is pivotal in managing minor medical emergencies and injuries, requiring a high degree of professionalism, medical knowledge, and the ability to perform effectively under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer first aid for minor injuries such as cuts, abrasions, and sprains, ensuring proper wound care and bandaging techniques.
  • Provide care for common event-related health issues, including dehydration, heat exhaustion, and minor allergic reactions, offering rehydration fluids, and monitoring symptoms.
  • Assist individuals experiencing symptoms of over-exertion or minor respiratory issues, ensuring they receive the appropriate level of care and monitoring their condition.
  • Prepare, manage, and maintain first aid supplies and equipment, ensuring readiness for immediate use.
  • Participate in continuous training and preparedness activities to enhance the quality of medical response.
  • Collaborate closely with other team members and first responders.

Requirements:

  • Certification in First Aid from a recognized institution, focusing on practical skills in wound care, symptom management, and emergency response.
  • Experience in a medical care or emergency response setting is preferred, showcasing a track record of effective medical assistance. (recommended)
  • Completion of a CERT course (recommended)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work under stressful conditions.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Commitment:

  • Volunteers should be available for a minimum of 2-3 call-outs (typically 6-8 hours) per month.
  • Must be flexible and able to serve on an on-call basis, particularly during major events and peak times in the city.
  • A willingness to commit to at least 6 months of volunteer service with LAIT911.
