LAIT911 is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides real-time incident information that keeps communities informed and safe during disasters. Our automated incident platform, combined with the expertise of our real-time incident analyst team, ensures accurate and timely reporting to the public.

About the role: As a LAIT911 incident analyst, you will monitor and manage active real-time incidents. Duties include sending emergency alerts, associating radio transmissions with incidents, creating new incidents based on live audio feeds, and verifying user-contributed data. The role of an incident analyst is of utmost importance in providing accurate and timely information during disasters or emergency situations.

Incident analysts play a crucial role in ensuring public safety by monitoring and managing real-time incidents. By promptly sending emergency alerts and providing accurate information, they help individuals and communities make informed decisions to protect themselves and take appropriate actions in high-risk situations.

The role of incident analysts is to gather and verify information from multiple sources, including emergency radio, social media, and independent research. Incident analysts serve as a bridge between the community and the emergency response system. Your specific responsibilities will include the following:

  • Determining when to send emergency alerts for high-risk situations
  • Associating radio transmissions with active incidents
  • Creating new incidents based on emergency dispatch live audio feeds
  • Providing additional context to existing incidents from data gathered via emergency radio, social media, or independent research
  • Monitoring and verifying user-contributed data

You will be provided with all the tools you need to be successful in this role, including access to our highly advanced incident analyst tool kit, which includes:

  • Massive amounts of data on any active or past LAFD, LACoFD, or CHP incident from various intelligence sources.
  • Advanced incident alerting functionality that combines artificial intelligence and audio processing allows our team to take action in real-time and monitor developing disasters or emergencies.
  • Virtual Fire & Police scanners through SDR, allowing you to listen in to emergency radio, no matter where you physically are located

Requirements: To be a successful LAIT911 incident analyst, you should have the following qualifications:

  • A basic understanding of fire and police radio communication
  • A desktop with an internet connection (our dispatch portal is not compatible with mobile devices)
  • Attention to detail and integrity – providing accurate real-time information is critical for building and maintaining public trust
  • A collaborative, team-oriented personality, dedication, and commitment to the role.
